Deanery Synod
The Deanery Synod normally meets three times a year to consider matters of interest to the parishes and to promote the whole mission of the Church in the Deanery.
​
In 2025 the Deanery Synod plans to meet on the following dates:
Wednesday March 26th
Tuesday June 17th
and Wednesday October 22nd.
Deanery Synod Representatives
Each parish in the Deanery is entitled to elect one, two or three representatives to the Deanery Synod (depending on the number on the Church Electoral Roll). Representatives are elected for three years and the next election will be in 2026. Vacancies can be filled by election at your parish's Annual Parochial Church Meeting.

Deanery Synod
Our October Deanery Synod was held on Thursday 17th October at North Barrow Village, when the new Area Dean Caroline Walker was welcomed following her commissioning in August. ​​The Agenda and the Minutes of the July meeting can be downloaded by clicked on the icons to the right.

The Lay Dean gave an update on the pastoral reorganisation of the Deanery and Cesca Priestley, the Go Team adviser for Wells Archdeaconry, led a workshop on growing faith with children, young people and families.

Guest speaker Matthew Pinnock, the Diocese's Head of Finance, spoke about the current state of the Diocesan finances and there was also a presentation and discussion on the future priorities for the church in our Deanery.

Deanery Synod
Our July Deanery Synod was held on Wednesday 5th July at North Barrow Village Hall.

As this was the first meeting of a new session of Synod, the Deanery Officers were be elected as well as representatives to the Deanery Mission and Pastoral Group (DMPG). However there are still vacancies for the Deanery Secretary and the Deanery Treasurer.
​
Synod also voted to approve the proposed plan for pastoral reorganisation in the Deanery. A paper outlining the background to the vote can be downloaded along with a map showing the proposed new benefices under the plan.
​
Finally, there was a reflection on the opportunities provided by the use of Art in Church.

Deanery Synod
Our March Deanery Synod will be held at 7.30pm on Wednesday 26th March at the Davis Hall, West Camel. ​​The Agenda and the Minutes of the October meeting can be downloaded by clicked on the icons to the right when available.

Our speaker at the Synod will be Claire Horton, a Deanery and Parish Development Adviser for the Diocese, who will lead an interactive session on Growing Good. Growing Good provides practical tips and suggestions for parishes that want to grow new connections and make a difference in their communities.
